January 17 -THE SECOND CARVING VENUE AT MONTE BONDONE
It went on snowing on the slopes of Monte Bondone, and
the situation doesn't seem to change until tomorrow morning.
In Folgarida, in fact, it was possibile to run only due to
the excellent work of the local staff. Also on Monte Bondone's
"Palon" the snowcats are just waiting for the snowing
to stop, to start working. There should be enough time until
Saturday, where the sun should come back to shine. Last year
Monte Bondone hosted the World Challenge Edition, which saw
the victories of Marco Pastore (GER) and Alessandra Merlin
(ITA). The lack of snow in 2007 forced Mauro Robustelli, the
official course setter to set a track similar to a giant slalom,
this year he will be able to move the course with a lot of
jumps, bumps and waves.
Everybody is focused on Gianluca Grigoletto, from Rovereto
(Texcart Carving Team). He closed in 7th position only on
last week end's opening race, won by Roberto Boselli (CTI-Columbia),
but usually he is in need to feel the challenge to race really
good. As usually the Fis Carving Cup goes together with the
Toyota 4x4 Skitour, a promotional village that we find during
every italian venue. On Saturday the two qualifying runs are
scheduled for 10 am.
The best 30 men and 10 women are admitted to Sunday's semifinal
at 11 on the slope "Palon", in order to select the
top 10 men and top 5 women for the final. The opening race
at Folgarida is still broadcasted on SkySport2 tomorrow at
15.45 and on SkySport3 on Friday morning at 6 am. |
