saturday, January 19 -Grigoletto and Merlin are the winners of today's qualifying
As expected today's qualifying on the Palon at Monte Bondone saw a victory of Gianluca Grigoletto. After the 7th position during the opening in Folgarida, he went down very motivated and showed his style. Alessandra Merlin on the other hand had no real rival today morning. Her advantage on the Swiss Melanie Buergener in the end was of 1,21 points and on Ana Teuc (Slo) of 1,99 points.

The second position in the men's competition went to Thomas Bergamelli, only 0,07 his delay, the third to Ivan Eggenberger (Sui). Unfortunately the Stoeckli Carving Team was reduced as the Stoessel Brothers, 2nd and 3rd in Folgarida are both injured - they will come back for the European Challenge in San Martino di Castrozza. Very well Emanuele Bagatta, who went even better than the better known Roberto Boselli (both Emilia) only in 8th position, with his red leader bib. Anyway the “real” race will start tomorrow with first the semifinal and afterwords the final run. The official course setter Mauro Robustelli today set an interesting track with 3 bumps and 19 turns. Tomorrow we will surely see an improved speed and even more show. The semifinal is scheduled for 11.30, the final for 12.30.
