ROCCARASO - THE SIXTH VENUE - Showtime on the Gravare Corte
22 february 2008. - The beginning of this sixth season's venue on Roccaraso's Gravare Corte is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Mauro Robustelli, the official course setter, in order to increase the agonistic tension, designed a track that has nothing to envy to a good snowpark. A jump already after 3 turns, than the double parabolic curve in order to follow the natural change of direction of the slope and from there on every athlete's move is under the eyes of the public in the arrival zone. Immediately afterwords a bump on the even part leads to the second jump and another bump just between buoy 10 and 11. Before the arrival the carvers need to go through another bump and two final jumps.

This will be quite hard as during the last jump, in the air the athletes have to prepare the final turn. This time besides the usual tactics, the carvers also need to show good skills of equilibrium and dinamic. Italy is pointing everything on Roberto Boselli and Gianluca Grigoletto, both of them already won on this track. If Stoessel achieves another victory this could close the run for the cristal cup in advantage, but nothing is decided yet. Even a small mistake can bring you directly to the bottom of the ranking on such a course. And only such a mistake could possibly stop the winning series (24 victories in her career) of Alessandra Merlin. Her eternal rival, Melanie Buergener achieved only two victories in her career, but many times she went near to another. Alessandra has to pay attention also to the slovenian Ana Teuc and Vanja Celigoj. Talking about young athletes we have to remind also Matteo Vatua and Emanuele Bagatti. And of course Marco De Martin, always in sight of the podium. Thomas Bergamelli tomorrow will try to avoid his usual final-run-mistake, that during the last races, and after best times during qualifying and semifinal, separated him from the podium and advantaged Ivan Eggenberger, always ready to jump in. Start for the qualifying, tomorrow 10.30, for the semifinal on sunday 11.30.

BASIC RULES
The traditional poles or rapid gates are substituted by buoys. Each turn (max 20) is made of 3 buoys layed down horizontally, vertically or oblique. The inner blue buoy provides 3 points, the mitter yellow one 4 points and the outer red one 5 points. The result is given by the race time/buoypoints. The athletes may decide weather to choose to collect many points but a little higher race time, or to point on a fast race, with less points. The programm sees on Saturday the two qualifying runs that qualify 30 men and 10 women for the semifinal of the day after (the best result of the two gives the ranking). The semifinal selects again the top 10 men and top 5 women for the final.

The two qualifying runs are scheduled for saturday, 10.30 and the semifinal/final for sunday at 11.30.
