Fis Carving Cup - SPEED CARVING Renè Stössel e Martina Giunti won the race Sayturday 9January 10th - The Speed Carving competition took place this morning on the slope Palon of the Monte Bondone. It was gained by Martina Giunti and by the swiss Renè Stössel. The competition was troubled by the meager visibility, however this meteorological condition hit uniformly all of the athletes, therefore the ranking corresponds absolutly to the ability shown in field today. The only one that would be really allowed to complain is Stefania Burba that had beeb confronted with strong gusts of wind while here second run. Martina Giunti, florentine athlete of the team Texcart, today had no rivals, she concluded with 25” of advantage on Giorgia Bortolotti, who is just eighteen years old but she was able to become already protagonist of the Fis Carving Cup. Giorgia (Colmar carving Team) after this second race, has become leader of the speciality, surprising the Swiss champion Melanie Bürgener. Melanie today finished in third position, just before Stefania Burba.In masculine field, also Renè Stössel had thrown very clear signals during the qualifying runs, won by Thomas Bergamelli, before Marco De Martin. Then, in the final run, he was able to make a champion show. He arrived bifore Gianluca Grigoletto who came down after a painkilling puncture for his usual back problem. Gianluca reached the final with the seventh time, then in the decisive run he attacked markers, fog and wind making his usual masterpiece. A very important second place for the general listing because Thomas Bergamelli, leader, concluded at his shoulders, succeeded by Marco De Martin at third place and on the brother which became fifth.In general ranking Thomas Bergamelli remains leader with 300 points, 19 more than Giancarlo Bergamelli, while Renè Stössel with 262 points is third before Grigoletto that has 250 points. Also Melanie Bürgener maintains the leadership with 360 points, while on the second place with 270 points we have the two italians Stefania Burba and Martina Giunti. Fourth Giorgia Bortolotti with 255 points. Tomorrow the slalom carving will start. The traditional competition where the tactic will be the most important thing. The weather conditions will be determined better, at least according to the meteorological previsions. It will be a splendid day also for the public which can have fun at the promotional Renault Koleos Skitour village. The program of tomorrow expects the beginning of the competition at 10,30 with the two qualifying runs and around 12,30, the masculine and feminine grand final. Ranking SPEED CARVING WOMAN 1.
