KRANJSKA GORA       KRANJSKA GORA (SLO) - The fifth venue 16 february 2008 - The seasons fifth venue, held under the lights of the Dolencev Rut in Kranjska Gora saw again the victories of René Stoessel and Alessandra Merlin. After the qualifying and the semifinal run the result seemed to be different, with a victory of the locals Miha Malus or Bostjan Groselj, the winner of the qualifying or of Thomas Bergamelli, as usual the winner of the semifinal, who then loses everything because of some little mistakes during the final run. Stoessel again, after his 1st places of San Martino di Castrozza and Airolo, committed no mistakes at all. The artificial lights on the Dolencev Rut, the packed ground because of the artificial snow and the low temperatures permitted a perfect show, and Alessandra Merlin played a major rule with her 5th seasonìs victory, due to her tecnical and tactical precision. These 100 points cancel the last hopes of the helvetian Melanie Buergener to may gain the Cup as well as for Ana Teuc and Vanja Celigoj. The men's general ranking is far more interesting. Roberto Boselli remains the only Italian who can aspire at the Cup, due to his second place before Ivan Eggenberger, who run with the red leader bib. With still 4 races left (Roccaraso, Pragelato, Zakopane and Claviere) Stoessel is now leading the general ranking with 36 pts of advantage on Ivan Eggenberger and 40 on Roberto Boselli. Grigoletto, who couldn'd find the right way this season, remains linked to the group only by maths. The next venue is scheduled for february 23/24 at Roccaraso, on the Gravare Corte, Aremogna.
